Parrot Zikmu by Philippe Starck now 'in colour'

France-based wireless specialist Parrot has unveiled a new range of its Philippe Starck-designed Zikmu iPod speaker docks.

The new Parrot ‘Zikmu in colour’ range builds on the original black with new versions in white, grey or a soft shade of lime green (this year’s big fashion shade, apparently).

The Zikmu includes an iPod dock in the top of its tower but can also connect to a local network via Wi-Fi or stream directly from a mobile phone via Bluetooth. Each speaker is effectively a self-contained 2.1 system, with full-range stereo drivers facing in opposite directions and a subwoofer in the base.

Henri Seydoux, founder of Parrot, said: “With the ‘Zikmu in color’ collection, we pursue the idea of a high-tech product which is part of everyday life, in the same way as a piece of furniture or a decorative object. You choose it because you like it, because you will live well with it.”

The Parrot ‘Zikmu in colour’ range will be available from April 2010 for £1,000.
