LG HB954SP Blu-ray system

9 octobre 2009

LG’s latest HB954SP Blu-ray system is a more discreet offering than its previous HB954PB, which featured speakers raised on ostentatious champagne flute-style stands.

The altogether more restrained HB954SP features compact, oval and sphere-shaped speakers, but is capable of delivering full HD 1080p video, decoding HD audio and it comes with a powerful 1000 watts of onboard amplification.

The slim profile player is Profile 2.0 enabled so it can deliver BD Live content for suitable discs via the web as well as view YouTube, and not only can it decode Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks, it can also handle Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD (High Resolution Audio) and DTS-HD (Master Audio).

There’s provision for iPod users who can charge their portable players through the system, and the sound has been cooked by hi-fi mastechef Mark Levinson with LG’s Sound Gallery offering a range of dedicated sound modes to suit your taste, including News, Drama and Sports, and a Night listening option, though we suspect this just makes it quieter.

The system includes two HDMI inputs, 1080p upscaling of standard DVDs and playback from USB sources as well as optical and coaxial digital inputs.

The LG HB954SP will be on sale in the UK in November though there’s no word yet on price.
