Users of Freeview, including those with Top Up TV and BT Vision will need to retune their digital TV or digibox today as part of the UK digital switchover.
From lunchtime, all users, regardless of region, will be greeted with an onscreen message to guide them through the process, which the company assures us is ‘straightforward’.
The change is to accommodate Channel 5, which will be available on Freeview along with the other terrestrial channels at the digital TV switchover for each region. In addition, technical preparations for future improvements to the Freeview service, including Freeview HD, are being made.
A new channel, Quest, from the Discovery stable, will become available to most Freeview users after the retuning, but the company has warned that some homes may lose ITV3 and ITV4 and the Community Channel will disappear from those regions which have already gone through the switchover.
