32- and 37-inch models join D64U series lineup

LAS VEGAS, January 7, 2008 – Sharp, a worldwide leader in flat-panel Liquid Crystal Display Televisions (LCD TV), has added 32- and 37-inch screen sizes to its “slim-line” D64U series of AQUOS® Full HD 1080p HDTVs, which already includes 42-, 46-, 52- and 65-inch screen sizes. Boasting a significantly smaller footprint than previous models, the D64U series allows consumers to fit more TV into less space. “Sharp’s D64U series sets the standard for picture quality and styling in LCD TV,” said Bruce Tripido, associate vice president, marketing, Entertainment Products Division, Sharp. “Not only do consumers get the benefit of Full HD resolution, they get the highest performance video available in an elegant, space-saving design.” To achieve the exceptionally thin depth, Sharp engineers redesigned the circuitry inside the LCD panel and reduced the overall number of components, resulting in a cabinet that’s 25 percent slimmer than previous AQUOS models. In addition, the advanced design trims the weight of the displays by as much as 20 percent. Thanks to the thinner bezel and recessed stealth speakers, consumers are able to appreciate a larger picture without giving up more wall or cabinet space. The D64U AQUOS series provides a superior Full HD 1080p picture with unparalleled performance, utilizing Sharp’s proprietary Advanced Super View (ASV) /Black TFT Panel with Multi-Pixel technology. The panels produce an impressive 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio that delivers deep blacks and detail in dark scenes. The 6ms response time (4ms on 42”/46”/52”/65”) allows for crisp images, even in fast-moving scenes. The LC-37D64U and LC-32D64U incorporate Sharp’s 4-wavelength backlight system, which provides deep, vibrant reds. Generous 176-degree viewing angles offer consumers the ability to view the picture from virtually anywhere in the room. The LC-37D64U and LC-32D64U are outfitted with a full array of inputs including two HDMI version 1.3 (x. v.ColorTM), two component HD (all 1080p-compatible) a PC input and an RS-232C port for control. The Energy Star®-compliant D64U series TVs maintain very low power consumption.
