Enhanced performance in a compact unit for flawless presentations almost anywhere

LAS VEGAS, January 7, 2008 – Building on the successful Notevision® series of sleek, lightweight, DLP® projectors, Sharp today introduced two new models designed to handle most cinema projection, business and education requirements with ease. The new models (XR-32X and XR-32S) are the perfect tool for any business presentation or an instant home theater, offering high brightness, the latest Texas Instruments® DLP technology and TrueVision™ (DDP2000) image processing for seamless educational, business or video presentations. “Business and education professionals are on the move more than ever, and require a compact, portable projector that performs well and can travel as frequently as they do,” said Bruce Pollack, associate director of marketing, Professional Display Division, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “Our new XR series models are small and easy to use with an intuitive set-up, wide compatibility and connectivity, as well as excellent resolution.”

Dazzling Images and Brightness for Any Lighting Environment For precise image reproduction, the XR-32X has a native XGA (1024 × 768) resolution and the XR-32S has a native SVGA (800 × 600) resolution. The units can project a brilliant image in almost any room or run most applications, with vibrant contrast ratios ranging from 2200:1 (XR-32X) to 2000:1 (XR-32S) for realistic black tones. The projectors can be used in virtually any lighting environment with a brightness level of 2500 ANSI Lumens. Portable and Easy to Use Weighing just over six pounds, the new XR models can be carried easily from living room to bedroom and make the perfect on-the-road presentation companion. Set-up is a snap with a faster start-up than traditional projectors and on-screen interactive help for operation assistance. To control a presentation’s pace and appearance from anywhere in a room, the projector includes a full-function remote with PC control, on-screen break timer plus pointer, resize and image freeze functions. With the Direct Power Off feature, users can immediately unplug the projector and remove it from a location, and Auto Restart enables rapid restart after a power failure or for use in unattended displays. For a comfortable environment, a Front Exhaust design with new linear fan control and duct system provides for ultra-quiet operation and prevents the disturbance of air being blown toward audiences.  Additionally, the XR series features sealed optics that prevent dust, dirt and smoke from entering the optical assembly and a high efficiency lamp makes the projectors an ideal choice for extended-use operation. The projectors’ low power mode provides reduced fan noise (29 dB) and power consumption, making the projector both quiet and economical to operate.

Home Theater Use The XR projectors display a crystal-clear picture for an occasional home theater set-up or to show the big game at home. Gamers will also appreciate the high contrast ratio and brightness. The projectors offer HDTV/DTV compatibility for use with current and future video technologies (in both 4:3 and 16:9) formats) as well as extensive connectivity options. A high-quality scaler transforms TV signals into non-interlaced representation for a better picture. The XR-32X features built-in DVI-D digital computer input with HDCP video for crisper, virtually noise-free projection from HDCP compliant digital video sources, RGB loop-through output, two stereo audio inputs, stereo “VAO” variable audio line-output and an RS-232C port for connection with external control systems. The XR-32S offers standard RGB and video inputs, RGB loop-through output, stereo audio input and RS-232C port. The models are backed by a one-year parts and labor limited warranty excluding the lamp; warranty on the user-replaceable projection lamp is 90 days. Availability and Pricing The XR-32X will be available in Q2 2008 for a Manufacturer’s Suggested List Price (MSLP) of $1,195.99 The XR-32S will be available in Q2 2008 for an MSLP of $1,095.99
