CE professionals are invited to the THX Learning Lounge and THX Certified Professional Educational Courses at this year’s CEDIA Expo. The THX Learning Lounge, located in the Omni Hotel’s Pine Room, will feature interactive demo stations and tutorials to showcase THX Certified products and THX technology features, as well as provide tips and tricks for home theater designers and video calibrators.
THX Certified Professional Educational Courses will be offered to attendees of CEDIA Expo.
THX instructors will lead a number of educational workshops, both during and after the show. The CEDIA-accredited THX courses are designed to advance the skills of custom installers, dealers and system calibrators, as well as provide them a means to generate new business by marketing themselves as THX Certified Professionals.
THX Certified Professional workshops are highly rated, with more than 80 percent of past
attendees stating that the coursework and THX certification are important for attracting new business and a 91 percent overall rate of satisfaction (THX Survey of CEDIA Attendees).
“The current economic climate requires custom installers, dealers and calibrators to find new ways to stand out from the competition and provide more value-added services to prospective clients,” said John Dahl, director of education at THX. “Education has always served as a means of career advancement and reinvention. For this reason, THX has decided to focus its CEDIA Expo efforts on helping CE professionals improve their skills and drive new business.”
THX LEARNING LOUNGE AT SCHEDULE
The THX Learning Lounge provides CEDIA attendees an up close look at the techniques taught
in THX Certified Professional workshops, while previewing the latest THX Certified speakers, receivers and display products from Pioneer, LG, Panasonic and Onkyo. The THX Learning Lounge will be held in The Omni Hotel’s Pine Room, just across the street from the Expo show floor during regular show hours.
THX CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL HOME THEATER WORKSHOPS
THX Certified Professional Home Theater 1 is a daylong course to introduce custom install
professionals to the THX theories and principles of home theater design, room acoustics and
product certification. The course curriculum provides attendees the knowledge to assist clients with the selection of home audio and video equipment, system setup and basic calibration. THX Certified Professional Home Theater 1 is also a prerequisite for other THX workshops, including the critically acclaimed THX Certified Professional Video Systems Calibration course. THX Home Theater 1 will be held on Sunday, September 13 in the Birch Room at the Omni Hotel.

THX Certified Professional Home Theater 2 builds upon the THX Home Theater 1 workshop,
providing more intense training on room acoustics and design, treatments and isolation, and AV hardware selection and placement. Attendees will also participate in hands-on demonstrations as part of this comprehensive program, including detailed system setup, speaker positioning and audio calibration. THX CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL VIDEO SYSTEMS CALIBRATION
The THX Certified Professional Video Systems Calibration course provides professional video
calibrators the most in-depth and comprehensive calibration training available today. The threeday course includes classroom instruction and two full days of hands-on training. Students will gain an understanding of video calibration using a variety of video testing and calibration instruments, in addition to knowledge of consumer projector and flat panel display operation, performance and maintenance. Successful completion of the course curriculum provides CE professionals a means to generate new business by offering THX Certified Calibration services to their clients.
